Dr. Mallory Frayn, PhD, R.Psych., OPQ - Founder

Dr. Frayn is a specialist in impulse and behaviour change with over a decade of clinical experience to draw from. She obtained her PhD in Clinical Psychology from McGill University, completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship with Drexel University, and is registered in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists and the Ordre des Psychologues du Quebec. In addition to founding Impulse Psychology, she is heavily involved in training the next generation of psychologists, working as a clinical supervisor. She previously served as an Assistant Professor (Professional) at McGill University, and currently supervises Clinical Psychology students at the University of Calgary.

Throughout her training and clinical work to date, Dr. Frayn has seen impulse as a theme that stands between where her clients are and where they want to be. She works with high functioning individuals and knows that the balance between drive, motivation, and achievement working for you versus working against you can exist on a razor’s edge. Whether you’re striving for the C-suite, starting your own business, or going for gold, how you channel your momentum is paramount to success. Working in a high-stress environment also impacts your capacity to regulate yourself, your emotions, and your urges. From disordered eating to emotion dysregulation, she has consulted with doctors, lawyers, business owners, and athletes seeking to better manage their inner experiences to optimize performance.

Dr. Frayn is a change-oriented psychologist and coach who knows that you have to do different to feel different. Managing impulse means understanding the function of why you have learned to cope in the way that you have to change your patterns moving forward. With Dr. Frayn, you play an active role in the therapeutic process and will be challenged to change the way that you relate to yourself, others, and the world around you in order to achieve your goals.

If you are ready to make changes, contact Dr. Frayn for a complimentary 15-minute consultation.
